The Wasco Viaduct will take high-speed trains over the existing BNSF freight tracks and is one of 14 structures planned for Construction Package 4.
The Wasco Viaduct is beginning construction on the south side of town at Jackson Avenue.
Crews are installing rebar cages along the BNSF freight lines. These cages are one of the early steps in creating columns which will ultimately support a pergola allowing high-speed trains to pass over the existing tracks. The pergola at Wasco Viaduct will be bookended by viaducts on each side. This structure will be nearly a mile long once complete.
