Daytime road closures along Cairo Avenue, between Ninth and Eighth avenues; and along Eighth Avenue between Cairo and Corona avenues in Kings County.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 3 through Friday, July 19, 2024.

Detour

EASTBOUND DETOUR:

Traffic going eastbound on Cairo Avenue will be detoured north on Ninth Avenue, the east on Corona Avenue.

SOUTHBOUND DETOUR:

Traffic going southbound on Eighth Avenue will be detoured west on Corona Avenue, then south on Ninth Avenue.

Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Access will be maintained to all property and business owners.

Description

Kings County, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture (DFJV), announces daytime road closures along Cairo Avenue between Eighth and Ninth avenues, and along Eighth Avenue, between Cairo and Corona avenues, in Kings County for work on a high-speed rail structure. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 3 through Friday, July 19, 2024.

This work is part of Construction Package 2-3 (CP 2-3), the 65-mile stretch of high-speed rail between East American Avenue in Fresno County and one-mile north of the Tulare-Kern County line.

All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel.
