Closure
Road closure along Orange Avenue, between State Route (SR) 43 and 4 ½ Avenue in Kings County for work on a high-speed rail grade separation.
The intersection of 5th and Orange avenues will remain open to north and southbound traffic.
Construction schedules are subject to change.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, and will continue through July 2026.

Detour
EASTBOUND ORANGE AVENUE DETOUR:
Traffic going eastbound on Orange Avenue will be detoured south on SR 43, east on SR 137 (Whitley Avenue), then north on SR 137 to Orange Avenue.
WESTBOUND ORANGE AVENUE DETOUR:
Traffic going westbound on Orange Avenue (Avenue 176) will be detoured south on SR 137, west on SR 137 (Whitley Avenue), then north on SR 43 to Orange Avenue.
Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Access will be maintained for all property and business owners.
Description
Kings County, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture (DFJV), announces a road closure along Orange Avenue, between State Route (SR) 43 and 4 ½ Avenue in Kings County for work on a high-speed rail grade
separation. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, and will continue through July 2026. Construction schedules are subject to change.
This work is part of Construction Package 2-3 (CP 2-3), the 65-mile stretch of high-speed rail between East American Avenue in Fresno County and one-mile north of the Tulare-Kern County line.
All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel.
