Closure

MULTIPLE CLOSURES:

  • Lane closure along northbound Railroad Avenue between Van Ness and Florence avenues;
  • Road closure along Van Ness Avenue between Railroad and Lorena avenues;
  • Intermittent lane closures along northbound Van Ness Avenue between Lorana and Braly avenues;
  • Road closure along eastbound California Avenue at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue;
  • Road closure along Woodrow Avenue at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue.

Work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will continue through Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025.

Detour

RAILROAD AVENUE TO VAN NESS AVENUE DETOUR:
  • Traffic along Railroad Avenue will be detoured east on Florence Avenue, north on East Avenue, then west on California Avenue to Van Ness Avenue.
VAN NESS AVENUE TO RAILROAD AVENUE DETOUR:
  • Traffic along Van Ness Avenue will be detoured east on California Avenue, south on East Avenue, then west on Florence Avenue to Railroad Avenue.
EASTBOUND CALIFORNIA AVENUE DETOUR
  • Eastbound traffic along California Avenue will be detoured north on Van Ness Avenue, east on Woodrow Avenue, south on Sarah Street to California Avenue.

Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Access to all businesses and residents will be maintained.

Description

Fresno, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in cooperation with design-build contractor Tutor-Perini / Zachry / Parsons (TPZP), announces multiple closures along Railroad, California and Woodrow avenues in Fresno for utility work. Work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will continue through Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025.

This work is part of Construction Package 1 (CP 1), the first 32-mile stretch of high-speed rail between Avenue 19 in Madera County and East American Avenue in Fresno County.

All construction activities and schedules are subject to change. The California High-Speed Rail project is considered a critical infrastructure sector, and as the project continues, staff, contractors and construction workers are following specific guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traffic laws will be fully enforced and commuters are expected to be aware of the surrounding activities, remain alert and watch for construction vehicles and personnel. The public is asked to drive carefully and be extra cautious while traveling though the construction areas.
